JESSICA’S APPROACH

Professional support tailored to your teen’s needs.

At Wildflower Psychology and Assessments, we understand the pressures and complexities teenagers face in today’s world. Adolescence is a time of growth, self-discovery, and significant change, but it can also bring challenges that feel overwhelming. Our teen therapy sessions provide a safe, supportive space where young people feel heard and understood. We focus on building trust and tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of every teen.

Jessica brings a wealth of personal and professional experience to her work with teenagers. She understands the challenges teens may face during this stage of life and takes a compassionate, collaborative approach to help them navigate these difficulties. By fostering a genuine connection, Jessica creates a safe and trusting environment where teens feel supported at every step.

She takes the time to thoroughly understand each teen’s background, strengths, and challenges. When appropriate, Jessica collaborates with parents, caregivers, and educators to provide holistic support. Sessions are relaxed, respectful, and empowering, using creative and flexible methods such as art and games to help teens express themselves in ways that feel natural and comfortable.

If your teen is struggling with anxiety, self-harm, bullying, trauma, or navigating life changes, we are here to help. Therapy also offers a space for teens to explore their feelings, process experiences, and build the confidence and skills they need to handle life’s challenges.

Jessica’s goal is to meet teens where they are, helping them develop self-awareness, resilience, and confidence so they can thrive in their own way. Together, we can support your teen to feel more connected, capable, and confident in their everyday life.

If you’re considering therapy for your teenager, we’d love to talk with you about how we can help. At Wildflower Psychology, we are dedicated to supporting teens and their families with warmth, expertise, and a genuine commitment to their well-being.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The WildFlower Way

What is Our Therapy Process?

  • Intake

Our first session is often just for parents and caregivers. Older teens may choose to have the initial session by themselves or attend with parents or caregivers. The aim is to gather information about your teen and their lives. Jessica will ask about your teens history, family situation, and current concerns. This is also an opportunity to ask questions and discuss hopes and goals. You may also be asked to complete questionnaires about your teen.

  • Therapy Phase

Sessions with teens are typically one-on-one with the psychologist, providing a private and supportive space for them to explore their thoughts and feelings. Parent involvement is considered on a case-by-case basis, with the teen having input into how much involvement they feel comfortable with or would find helpful.

It’s important to note that psychologists are bound by mandatory reporting laws. If a teen shares something that indicates a risk of harm to themselves or others, the psychologist is required to follow professional guidelines and inform parents or caregivers as needed. This process is always discussed openly with teens to ensure they understand these boundaries from the outset.

Therapy sessions are flexible and tailored to the individual needs of each teen. The structure and focus of sessions may vary depending on the reasons for attending therapy, allowing us to adapt to what works best for each young person.

  • Ending Therapy

Some teens may benefit from long-term support, while others might only need a few sessions to address a specific issue. Once their goals have been achieved, therapy can either be concluded or transitioned to less frequent sessions in a 'maintenance mode' to provide ongoing support as needed.
