OUR APPROACH

Its’s All About You.

At Wildflower, we understand the importance of seeking an assessment to better understand yourself or your child. The information gained around neurotypes or cognitive strengths and vulnerabilities can help guide supports, tailor approaches, and foster positive self-esteem through accurate self-understanding. It is invaluable for neurodivergent people to be able to understand themselves and any differences they may have.

Whether neurodivergent people have a label or not, they still know they are different, but just do not have an explanation for it and can easily internalise negative beliefs about themselves. The good news is, once these differences are appropriately identified and supported the mental health outcomes for neurodivergent people improve hugely.

Jessica is an experienced psychological assessor and has previously dedicated herself to the assessment space. Jessica also has lived experience of the assessment process herself and for her family members. Let’s just say, she gets it.

What is the Assessment Process?

  • Step 1. Booking

    • Contact us with your booking request.

    • Schedule an initial session with Jessica and your assessment date.

    • Admin will email your intake forms to you. You will have 24 hours to complete the forms.

    • Once we have recieved your forms we will charge the deposit fee ($230) to your card we have on file.

  • Step 2. Initial Session

Prior to your assessment appointment Jessica will meet with you for an intake session. This appointment will go for approximately 1.5-2 hours. Parents please do not bring your child to this appointment.

During this appointment Jessica will gather important background information about you or your child. Jessica will discuss the assessment process with you and any additional things that she may need from you (i.e., past reports; family member contact details; school details etc).

Depending on the assessment Jessica may begin the evaluation process during this session.

  • Step 3. Assessment

During the assessment session, you will be asked a series of questions or be asked to complete tasks on an iPad or questionnaire. This appointment takes 2-3 hours.

Please bring snacks with you. Plenty of breaks are provided.

  • Step 4. Final Session

After 3-6 weeks Jessica will provide you with your report. Jessica will send this report to you, prior to meeting for a final session to discuss the findings together and answer any questions you may have.

The report will include a summary of your results and recommendations for next steps.

  • Please enquire with your insurer to see if psychological assessments are covered through your insurance plan.

  • Jessica no longer offers ADHD assessments for adults (16+).

For anyone aged 16 and over, we recommend seeking a psychiatrist for an ADHD assessment.

Within other assessments (i.e., cognitive or Autism) Jessica can provide her opinion as to whether further exploration of ADHD is warranted.

If follow up is necessary, she will direct you to seek a GP referral for a psychiatrist to complete an ADHD assessment. We believe this is a more affordable and efficient process for our adult clients.

  • Jessica has an extensive library of additional assessment tools that look into a wide range of presentations including PTSD, personality, anxiety, and depression.

Jessica will be able to select these depending on your age and the reason you are seeking an assessment.

If you have a specific query please email us at admin@wildflowerspsych.com to discuss.
